Drone Delivery Service Company Launches in Winston-Salem, NC
Drone Express hit a milestone in May in its Federal Aviation Administration certification process
Drone delivery service company Drone Express is launching in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in late summer.
The company plans to offer delivery from the SouthEast Plaza Shopping Center of family-friendly bundle boxes with snacks to treats to meals, children’s activities and pet products.
Customers can place orders through a mobile app for drone delivery.
“We are incredibly excited to launch our drone delivery services in Winston-Salem,” said Beth Flippo, Drone Express CEO. “Our team is committed to providing innovative, efficient, and eco-friendly delivery that will transform how residents shop and live. We look forward to enhancing everyday life and joining this wonderful community.”
Founded in 2021, Drone Express counts the Kroger Company, Papa John’s International and Winsupply among its retail partners.
In May, Drone Express hit a milestone in its certification process with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval that paved the way for the company to make beyond-visual-line-of-sight deliveries.
The FAA accepted the Drone Express Part 135 Application to become a fully certified unmanned air carrier. The company now moves into the process of showing it can maintain a high level of safety and reliability while complying with FAA regulations.
Once fully certified, Drone Express would join other companies authorized for unmanned beyond-line-of-sight commercial deliveries including Amazon, Google and Zipline.
