Lifelike Humanoid Robots, Robot Dogs on Display at Beijing’s World Robot Conference

The Beijing-based event is intended as a hub for accelerating development and collaboration in the robotics industry

The 2023 annual World Robot Conference in Beijing is underway, with innovators from around the world unveiling the latest technology in robotics.

Robots on display range from lifelike, humanoid robots with synthetic skin, to quadruped robot dogs and robotic arms for manufacturing capabilities, as well as robotic assistants for a range of industries including health care, utilities and hospitality.

In its eighth year, the annual event is taking place at Beijing's Etrong International Exhibition and Convention Center.

The seven-day event has more than 600 exhibitors showcasing their robotic innovations, with some of the robots having their international debut at the event. Exhibitors include Unitree, Ex Robots, Data Robotics 

Demonstrations of the robot dogs and humanoid companion robots have been a mainstay of the event, serving drinks and food to visitors and dancing in formation while the robot dogs performed maneuvers such as handstands. 

Also on display is an artist robot, complete with a beret and mustache, which can paint pictures of visitors, as well as a harvesting robot that can demonstrate how it picks apples from a branch.

The conference runs through Aug. 22.
