ZenRobotics, a developer of waste-sorting robots, has launched the latest iteration of its recycling robots, which use AI to identify and sort trash.

Specifically, the company launched a multipurpose waste sorting robot for bulky material, dubbed Heavy Picker 4.0, and Fast Picker 4.0, which is a high-speed robot for lightweight material.

The company says the latest robots’ new features optimize and improve the efficiency of waste sorting operations.

“Our commitment has always been to …automate waste management processes and make outdated, inefficient and unsafe manual sorting a thing of the past,” said Jarmo Ruohonen, ZenRobotics’ general manager. “ZenRobotics 4.0 is our latest iteration of waste sorting robots with improvements that we believe revolutionizes waste sorting technology and are more than just an upgrade to waste management operations – they are ‘efficiency perfected’.”

According to ZenRobotics, the new AI features increase the robots’ efficiency by between 60-100%, compared to the company’s previous system and allows the robots to identify more than 500 kinds of trash.

“In essence, when applied to our Heavy Picker and Fast Picker robots, ZenRobotics 4.0 brings higher standards to waste sorting technology,” said Ruohonen. “With heightened safety, efficiency, and vast customisation, ZenRobotics 4.0 is set to redefine the very essence of waste management.”
