PTC is advancing its environmental sustainability initiatives with two announcements at LiveWorx 2023 this week.

Catherine Knicker, PTC’s chief strategy and sustainability officer made the announcements during Tuesday’s keynote.

PTC has signed the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment letter, pledging both near-term emissions reductions and long-term net-zero targets. The company also announced the expansion of its relationships with Ansys and aPriori to support the environmental sustainability goals of manufacturers.

“We recognize at PTC that we must walk the walk right alongside with our customers,” Knicker said. “So I am extremely pleased to announce that PTC has signed the Science-Based Target initiative commitment for both short- and long-term greenhouse gas reductions.

“And we're doing this for two main reasons. First, we believe it's simply the right thing to do. And second, many of our customers aim to work with SBTi-committed suppliers. So we now hit the mark.”

Knicker added that it’s also part of a broader commitment PTC is making with its manufacturing customers by reducing its own footprint in a manner consistent with its customers’ environmental sustainability goals.

Because most of a product’s environmental impact is made in the design phase, PTC is also broadening how it supports manufacturers’ efforts to reduce their product’s environmental footprint through not only its product design and life cycle management software but also by integrating with partners Ansys and aPriori.

“These workflows help engineers balance performance and environmental footprint priorities as they design products by providing predictively accurate, traceable, and reliable materials information across enterprises,” said Mark Hindsbo, vice president and general manager of product at Ansys.
