The U.S. version of the Internet of Things World event will take place May 14-17 in Santa Clara, California. We caught up with event organizer Gavin Whitechurch to find out what’s on the docket, what IoT trends he’s been tracking over the past year, and the challenges that IT professionals face around IoT.

Now in its fifth year, the show features May 14 preconference workshops on IoT as it relates to AI, blockchain, startups, the channel, developers and first responders. For the main conference, starting May 15, there are tracks and sessions on blockchain, AI, and security, edge computing, developers, industrial IoT, energy and utilities, startups, smart cities, smart buildings, smart homes, and connectivity. (The IoT Institute serves as the official online community for IoT World.)

Hear what Whitechurch has to say about the state of IoT and how the event has shifted to focus on the critical issues facing stakeholders and IT professionals.
