Crafting an Internet of Things plan with cutting-edge technology won't get you very far without the right technical skills to pull it off. Unfortunately, most companies don't have those skills on their current IT rosters.

For 2017, the salary range for a database admin is $98,500 – $148,500, an increase of 3.6 percent, according to Robert Half Technology.

For 2017, the salary range for a developer/programmer analyst is $83,000 – $143,250, an increase of 4.3 percent, according to Robert Half Technology.

Less than four out of 10 organizations rated their level of preparedness to complete each phase of an IoT strategy using in-house resources as excellent or very good, according to a survey from technical staffing firm TEKsystems.
