Google Cloud has struck a partnership with the GE Appliances (GEA) to provide intelligence to consumer appliances.

GEA will enlist Google Cloud’s data, analytics and machine learning scripts to build intelligent tools throughout its development processes. Forthcoming GEA smart appliances will also integrate Google capabilities, including its Vision AI technology, Android mobile operating system and voice-activated Google Assistant.

Through its partnership with Google Cloud, GE Appliances strives to help users limit downtime incurred when its machines go awry and reduce the total cost of ownership by making appliances last longer.

The division’s home appliance range, including connected fridges and washing machines, are also available to commercial buildings such as corporate offices and hotels.
