Airbus, Astrocast Extend Satellite IoT Partnership
Astrocast expects to further enhance its SatIoT bandwidth and quality of services through the partnership
Astrocast has extended its partnership with Airbus to increase its satellite Internet of Things (SatIoT) technology.
The two companies have collaborated since 2017 enabling the development of Astrocast’s communication protocol and modem software stack. Building on that success, the companies announced the extension of their partnership in which Airbus will continue to provide support for Astrocast’s SatIoT’s network capacity, reliability and cost-effectiveness. Astrocast’s SatIoT connectivity was launched commercially in 2022.
Astrocast expects to further enhance its SatIoT bandwidth and quality of services through the partnership, which would help it improve data transmission capacity, efficiency, latency and security, allowing customers to optimize their operational efficiency according to their needs.
François Gaullier, senior vice president of telecommunications and navigation systems of space systems at Airbus Defense and Space, said through the partnership extension, Airbus reaffirmed its commitment to Astrocast's technology roadmap and leadership in the SatIoT space.
“This collaboration also lays the important foundation for potential convergences with the future 5G NTN IoT communications standards that are currently in discussion for LEO constellations,” said Gaullier. “In time, these enhanced capabilities for collecting and exchanging critical data with IoT assets from multiple applications will benefit users across various key industries worldwide.”
