400-Foot Drone Light Display Brings Halloween to Life
On Halloween, it’s not uncommon to see some houses go all out with decorations, but nothing can quite compare to the 400-foot drone light display put on by light display developer Tom BetGeorge in Tracy, California.
The man behind the Magical Light Shows business put on the display for the delight of his community, with around 300 drones orbiting to Metallica’s “Master of Puppets and the “Ghostbusters” theme tune, creating giant visuals of the monsters found in “Stranger Things” and “Ghostbusters.”
Creating this kind of display requires geofencing and location-sensing technology, keeping the drones in line and preventing collisions. The company specializes in theme park installations but has previously created light displays for the likes of Disneyland, Ford Motors and even the U.S. Army, while the Halloween display has become an annual tradition that seems to get bigger and better.
BetGeorge said this year’s Halloween display would be an online-only experience, as his home displays tend to average a reported 100,000 visitors, instead using drone footage to create the immersive eight-minute video.
