The annual Sun ‘N Fun Aerospace Expo started Tuesday with continuous air shows, flight demonstrations, hundreds of exhibits and lots of emerging aerial technology.

The Lift Hexa eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle), was showcased at the event.

The event, now in its 50th year, is held in Lakeland Florida, which is located off the highly trafficked Route 4 between Tampa and Orlando.

The week-long event is expected to attract an attendance of 200,000.

Lift has been offering general public flights in the Hexa for several weeks at the airport in Lakeland.

The public flights have been selling out.

The Lift electric aerial vehicle (EAV) is in the category that does not require a pilot’s license to fly it.

The vehicle was designed in 2017 and has been shown and demonstrated around the world.

Some of its early testing was done with the military, CEO and founder Matt Chasen told me at its Sun ‘N Fun exhibit.

To fly the Hexa, a 45-minute instruction class is followed by a flight in the simulator in preparation to fly the vehicle. A simulator was set up in the exhibit area.

To get around the massive and spread-out expo, numerous golf carts move people from location to location. Planes are parked everywhere for attendees to check out.

Food vendors are plentiful, and many attendees are repeat visitors to the event.
