Binary Tech has announced a new collaboration with Roche Diagnostics, deploying Binary’s mobile asset tracking devices to monitor pathology samples and identify issues that occur during transportation.

The partnership is intended to enable greater supply chain sustainability and transparency, and catch contaminated or damaged samples before they enter the lab.

“When we developed the Binary Tech Pathology solution, we wanted to reduce complexity, offer more control and elevate the decision making of our customers,” said Michael Burton, Binary Tech CEO. “We deliver this by providing live data and insights of sample location and conditions while in transit. Combining the visibility and accountability of samples before they get to the lab will help reduce the current sample integrity issues experienced across the pathology sector.”

By integrating the monitoring devices with samples in transit, providers can monitor the samples’ status throughout the entire transportation process, offering insight on temperature, location, movement and light exposure. Each report can be tailored to meet a provider’s specific needs.

“This collaboration gives us an opportunity to roll out our field-proven pathology tracking solution to the global pathology market,” said Burton. “We know the costs of failure in pre-analytical tasks can be tremendous for laboratories, with increased expenditure, reputational damage, and in the worst case, negative patient outcomes. Our solution prevents that from happening.”
