Robotic pizza company Piestro is partnering with sandwich chain Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, piloting its autonomous pizza-making kiosk at Capriotti’s flagship location in Las Vegas.

Piestro has been expanding its market standing as customer demand for rapid food production and delivery remains high while the hospitality sector continues to face staff shortages and high costs, with robotic solutions coming in to tackle such challenges.

“Piestro will give our customers a brand-new menu category for evening and late-night eats that we didn’t have before,” said Ashley Morris, Capriotti CEO. “During these slower blocks of the day, one pod could increase revenue without needing to find additional team members.

“We’re optimistic that our initial test will be a success and foresee Piestro becoming an integral part of our future store layouts,” she said.

The collaboration is the latest in a spate of activity from Piestro, with the company announcing its partnership with Serve Robotics earlier this month to offer an end-to-end robotic pizza service, and said it has already received $580 million in pre-orders for its automated pizza kiosk.

Capriotti’s operates more than 170 sandwich shops and also owns Wing Zone, which recently announced plans to include Miso Robotics’ automated fry station, Flippy 2, to its operations moving forward.
