Miso Robotics has partnered with sports restaurant chain Wings and Rings to pilot its kitchen assistant robot Flippy 2. 

The test represents the first time Flippy 2 will be tested in a real restaurant environment – as opposed to a test kitchen. The trial will take place at Wings and Rings’ Crestview Hills, Kentucky location, with the possibility for further integration if it’s successful. 

Built on the Miso Platform, Flippy 2 leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision and data analytics to maximize efficiency in a commercial kitchen, taking over repetitive tasks to allow human workers more time to be on the restaurant floor. 

The news comes as Miso Robotics expands its market presence, in June it announced a partnership with Amazon to test Flippy 2 and Flippy Lite at scale using AWS RoboMaker, as well as a collaboration with Americana Restaurants to bring the company’s restaurant assistant bots to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions, starting with a pilot test of Flippy 2 at Americana Restaurants’ flagship Wimpy burger chain location in the Dubai Mall. 

Automated kitchen robots are being increasingly harnessed to respond to ongoing labor shortages and efficiency costs in the pandemic’s wake. And although businesses are still in the process of fully integrating these solutions, they are not yet entirely mainstream. 

Flippy, Miso Robotics’ automated arm designed to take over frying tasks in the kitchen, has however already seen significant market success, having been deployed in White Castle, Chipotle, Jack in the Box, Buffalo Wild Wings and Wing Zone test kitchens.
