New Integrated Telematics for Fleet Managers Coming to Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler
Connected transport expert Geotab has announced a major telematics partnership with automotive giant Stellantis’ mobility brand Free2move.
The deal was confirmed at the Work Truck Week 2022. Under the partnership, a Geotab Integrated Solution will be added to vehicles from Stellantis’ Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler brands in the United States. According to Geotab, this will allow for the “seamless integration” of vehicle data from Free2move servers into the MyGeotab platform via already embedded telematics in the Stellantis vehicles.
No additional hardware or installation is required, and fleet managers will have access to a unified telematics dashboard, providing key insights into how vehicles are being used, allowing them to optimize performance.
Among the areas MyGeotab can typically help users with are activity reports, trip history, GPS tracking, fuel consumption, engine system information and more.
Geotab also claims the convenience of having both the data from the telematics device and its fleet management services on one platform should improve productivity, compliance and safety. And it points to access to Geotab Marketplace – a portfolio of mobile apps and hardware and software solutions – as an opportunity for fleet management to be tailored even more specifically.
“Geotab and Free2move share a common goal, to improve mobility and enhance fleet efficiency,” said Rob Minton, associate vice president of connected car development at Geotab. “As one of the top operating systems for connected fleets, Geotab, in collaboration with Free2move, will supply fleets with a telematics solution that is simple to activate, cost-effective and will help fleet managers better manage their fleets.”
Benjamin Maillard, general manager at Free2move North America said the company is focused on innovation and improving mobility.
“With the new solution for Stellantis vehicles, we are delivering unique value by merging traditional fleet management with enhanced mobility solutions,” he said.
The partnership will launch in the U.S. later this year on eligible Stellantis vehicles made from 2018 onwards, with a basic or premium connectivity plan. Geotab says there are plans for “global availability in the coming years”, which given Stellantis’ sizeable portfolio outside North America – which includes Fiat, Citroen, Peugeot, Opel and Vauxhall – could point to a major expansion of the deal.
