This week marks a very important milestone for The IoT Institute: We welcome IoT World News—the news arm of the Internet of Things World conference series—into The IoT Institute ranks. This move is the culmination of months of preparation following the purchase last year by IoT World News’ parent company, Informa, of The IoT Institute’s parent company, Penton.

The merger of these two sites happens as more than 10,000 IoT practitioners—IT and OT leaders, senior IT, and business stakeholders from around the world—descend upon Santa Clara, CA, to learn from each other, network, and celebrate the emerging IoT industry at Internet of Things World 2017. It is truly an exciting time to be engaged in IoT, as organizations conceive, test, and build out IoT initiatives and seek to gain competitive advantage from them.

This week also marks my official introduction to the IoT World family. I joined The IoT Institute as executive editor in early May. Before coming to the IoT Institute, I spent 10 years as an editor at websites owned TechTarget, most recently focusing on emerging technologies for SearchCIO.com. I’m intrigued by the potential of technologies like Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain to enable truly innovative business opportunities, save money, and literally change how the world uses technology. Given the opportunity to dive full-time into IoT, I jumped at the chance.

As the new combined website ramps up over the coming weeks and months, you can expect to find the news and analysis, learning content, and opinion articles that IT and operational tech, senior IT, and business stakeholders need to advance IoT projects within their businesses. Please bookmark the site—www.ioti.com—and come back often to find information critical to your IoT projects.
