Customers Seize Energy Destiny

  • Written by Martin Rosenberg
  • 2nd April 2016

Consumers are increasingly taking control of their electric power destiny, says a Washington, D.C., utility executive.

Karen Lefkowitz, Pepco Holdings vice president of business and business transformation, says, “For the first time customers are becoming their own utilities in many ways.”

Lefkowitz recently told a gathering at The Energy Times Executive Briefing, “We have customers who are deciding that they want to self-generate, and we have customers who are deciding they want to sell back to the grid.”

Utilities employees and corporate culture can and will rise to the challenge, she said.
